Sailing
Lancaster University Sailing Club (LUSC) is a student run club for the students of Lancaster University who wish to race on the University team racing circuit, learn the sport or develop their sailing skills. The club currently owns a fleet of 6 Fireflys, 4 Laser II's and a Lark which are kept at Bolton Sailing Club where we Race and train. The club is approximately 40 minutes away from the University Campus and minibus transport is usually available. We sail continuously throughout the year from October, through the winter, and of course in the summer months. We sail, on average twice a week in the winter and usually more often in the summer months. On Wednesday afternoons we focus on the less experienced members of the club and on recreational sailing. Most Saturday's are spent developing our racing skills to make us a more competitive University team. We compete in both national events and University led events for example Roses (vs York University) and Big B (vs our old buoys). We mostly race Fireflys during term time and the lark for special events during the summer. Join us on facebook if you want to know more: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=8727876942&v=wall

Spanish
Primarily, and for LUMS to be happy, our main objective is to help those people who are either taking Spanish as a second or third language. We also help Spaniards and Latin people studying here to integrate and make it easier to settle-in and solve probems and queries, through our Weekly Spanish Coffee. But, as a "secondary" objective, we bring to the cold-rainy English weather the very best of Spanish partying: Ibiza and Pacha style Parties, themes and music, as well as our food and wine. And you don't even need to be taking Spanish or be Spanish to attend to them!! Tempting?

Further training including Sports Diver or Dive Leader Courses. Any level of experience from any club is welcome. If you have never dived in the UK before then come and try it, you may be surprised! Ultimate Frisbee
Ultimate frisbee is a sport that is growing in popularity around the world. Ultimate is like American football in that to score, you have to catch the disc (frisbee) in the opposing end zone. However it is strictly non-contact and 'spirit' is an important concept as it is self-refereed. Additionally, it has elements of netball as you are not allowed to move once holding the disc except for one foot which you pivot off. Ultimate is exciting and fun and we welcome anyone to come to our training sessions and see why!

Wilderness Medicine
Wilderness Medicine encompasses all specialities where the care given is far from the availability of more formal help, including; expedition medicine, search and rescue medicine, pre-hospital care medicine, tropical medicine, disaster relief medicine, humanitarian aid medicine, extreme environment medicine (sub-aquatic, high altitude, space) and military medicine. This society aims to promote these specialities and raise awareness of the skills used in management of acute situations in these wilderness settings, by organizing training days and weekends outdoors as well as lectures. Members are also notified of any upcoming courses and expeditions arranged by larger international organizations. The events described are beneficial to medics and non-medics alike and useful skills, particularly for those who lead groups outdoors, will be highly useful.

Wing Chun Kung Fu
The Chinese martial art Wing Chun Kung Fu is not your stereotypical style of kung fu. Unlike the old Kung Fu fighting systems, which tended to mimic the motions of animals and lead to elaborate fighting positions, Wing Chun stressed efficiency of movement and simplicity. This makes it an exceptionally effective form of self defence for people of all sizes. Wing Chun is a friendly society, so it is a great place to meet new people and learn to defend yourself and therefore boost your confidence. Please look at our website which has our training details on. If you're interested we take new members all year, so come along and see what you think.

Have a look through this list and find something for you. There’s getting on for 150 groups, so it might take a while. If you want to speed things up just use hold CTRL and F, it’ll pop up a search function.
(One day, we will have a proper search function but, things aren’t quite finished on this site yet.)
If you can’t find what you want, you could always set up a new group for yourself.
